Ben Builds Season Six: Albatros D.III ep 7

Welcome back to the Eduard, 1/48th scale, Albatros D.III. I am so glad you stopped by!

Today, we are finally going to tackle the wood finish on the fuselage. I've been watching quite a lot of tutorials and reading articles on different ways to do this and I think I am ready to give it a shot.

First, I'm going to use a mix of Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna and Yellow Ochre to paint the fuselage. Then, while the paint is still wet, I'm going to take some sponges and texture/remove the majority of the paint. Finally, I will come back with a detail brush and add some knots, subtle color changes and variations in the "wood" grain. I'll use Raw Umber and Burnt Sienna for this.

Of course, the fuselage has already been painted with Tamiya Desert Yellow, so we are good to go.
I have never done this before, so this will be a HUGE learning curve, so let's hope this goes well.

Oil paints take forever to dry so our next episode, will probably be some detail painting on the wings.

Thank you for watching and happy building!
